Close-Up Film Centre are presenting Music for a While: The Films of Oliver Bancroft (Studio 1-02) on Friday 5th September, 8.15pm, and Häxan on Sunday 7th September, 8pm. Oliver works across painting, print, photography, video and film. This programme is an opportunity to view his extensive work on 16mm film and video, starting with his early adventures in editing on a Steenbeck, to recent manipulations on digital platforms. This screening of Häxan will have the sonic adventures of a “Häxan mixtape” as audio accompaniment. Created by artist, filmmaker, mixtape maker, Oliver Bancroft: “When watching silent films, without live music accompaniment, it is best to watch them with your favourite tunes and let them guide you along the films narrative, or second best, watch with my favourite selection!” A riot of sound that matches the film’s kaleidoscopic play through genre and narrative.
