Susan Eyre's (Unit 4, Studio 4-106) work Forest of Eden has been selected for Macabre at AIR Gallery, a group exhibition exploring the strange, unusual, uncanny and grotesque in contemporary art. "The myth of the wild man stretches back to the tale of Gilgamesh’s quest for immortality. In history the wild man’s characteristics oscillate between horror and fantasy. They reflect fear of the other as well as aspirations to be at one with nature often violating the taboos of civilization and symbolising the repressed desires of society. This person who posts photos of himself in charged poses has become an internet meme shared with equal disgust and fascination. In this etching he is placed back in the ancient forest of all our origins." - Susan Eyre, September 2021 Preview: Thursday 14 October 6-10pm Exhibition dates: 15 October-6 November AIR Gallery, 30 Grosvenor Road, Altrincham, Cheshire, WA14 1LE Open Wednesday-Friday, 11am-6pm, Saturday 12-5pm www.airgallery.space Image: Susan Eyre, courtesy the artist 2021
