Gavin Mitchell and Ian Carr The Illusion of Permanence (19-20 January 2018)

An installation featuring multiple mixed-media works by Gavin Mitchell (TW-09) and Ian Carr.

Gavin Mitchell's most recent work aims to provoke discussion by juxtaposing imagery that references the uneasy relationship Japan can have with both itself and the West. He also collaborates regularly on live sound and visual events with Groove Armada and Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts. Ian Carr’s soundscapes and moving-image compositions are constructed from a fusion of abstract and literal audio and video recordings from around the city.

Gavin says "each work explores and challenges established notions of function, structure and conformity through ambiguity, contradiction and imperfection."
