Radek Husak Tracing Infinity Exhibition Dates: 28 September-3 November 2019 The inspiration behind the 'Trace' series is my fascination with the representation of the human body in the internet age. By employing the manually generated glitch, I introduce a disturbance to what should be an accurate reproduction of reality. Working with a home office scanner, I add a sense of domestic familiarity to my work. What interests me about the process is the inability to predict the outcome which, in turn, suggests limitless aesthetic and compositional possibilities. This open-ended trajectory encourages me to experiment with a series of movements. From expressive and jagged to calm and fluid, the glitch allows only for fragmentary detail to be revealed. In a sense, the entire series becomes a form of post-human self-portrait only anchored to the reality by the physical application of the image. The materials and techniques employed in the process reflect my ongoing interest in reconnecting digital and analogue, tangible and bodiless. What was once only an on-screen entity through the application on treated metal and paper regains its human element.
