Anna Hughes' Oak Gall Ink Making Workshops

Discover the medieval art of making ink from foraged oak galls at this hands-on workshop. Oak galls are small natural growths produced by the Oak tree and they can be foraged from the woodland floor in Autumn and Winter.

You will learn the fascinating history behind this traditional ink-making technique and artist Anna Hughes (Studio 5-15) will demonstrate how to use the ink to create botanical illustrations. You will have time to experiment with these techniques and will leave the class with a recipe and instruction card, and a labelled bottle of your own hand-made ink.

This deeply pigmented ink is permanent and colour fast and can be used for drawing, painting, writing and illustration.

Date: Saturday 13th April
Time: 10.30-12.30
Location: The Education Space, Unit 2
